Job Description

Join Umoja Sport Foundation as a Community Sports coach and mentor.

Are you passionate about sports and community development? Do you believe in the power of sports to transform lives? Umoja Sport Foundation is looking for dedicated interns to join our team as coach and mentor for our community sport.

About Umoja Sport: We are a nonprofit organization operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a mission to create a safe and thriving community for all through sport, education, and economic empowerment. Umoja means “Unity” in Swahili, and we use sport to both unite people and as a tool for education beyond traditional classrooms, promoting health, education, youth, and women.

Tasks:

  • Mentorship and Coaching: Provide guidance and mentorship to youth coaches and participants, helping them develop their facilitation skills and their leadership and capacity to create a teamwork mindset in their participants.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Raise awareness about the importance of sports in community development through social media, community presentations, and other outreach methods.
  • Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from coaches and participants to help improve our programs and better meet the needs of those we serve.

Qualification:

  • At least two years of experience working with youth
  • Previous involvement in community projects
  • Experience in implementing sport-for-development initiatives
